i wouldnt push it. if he’s eight. no offense but he shouldn’t have a bone chip or artaritise. my horse is seven. i would lunge your pony once or twice. if he hurts you need to let him have a break. sorry idk what could be wrong

if the adult is small enough and the pony is big enough. a small pony can only handle about 75 pounds.

I recomend that you look into lessons at your local stable and see how to care for them. Chances are if your asking this question you prolly have more. Maybe then you can get a larger horse to ride instead of a pony that might not hold your weight. Even if it does hold your weight you will have to ask a vet how much weight will hurt this particuar horse’s back. They eat alot compared to a goat…
Either call your local vet (if they are a good and reliable vet they will not mind answering your questions, if they don’t want to find another vet)
or
Call your local stable

A 12-13hh pony could hold probably, maximum 200 pounds. I would guess, though, that 200 pounds is over-doing it and wouldn’t want to put anything over 150 pounds if I had a pony at that height. They eat around the same, because ponies tend to be much fatter than horses. Maybe a few pounds of feed left.
