I was your size…many, many years ago and owned a pony for many years that was 12.2 hands. She was a stocky Morgan build. You could go with whatever is comfortable for you. A moderate size horse is 14 hands and you should be able to handle it OK. But even 16 hand Thoroughbreds can be gentle. It’s all according to your preference and what your future plans involve.

Depends on how well of a rider you are kind of. Arabian’s tend to be high strung but are really pretty. I ride them a lot. The type of horse/Breed doesnt matter its the horse itself all are different!

If I were you, I would get a horse around 16-16.2, that way you would size appropriate on your horse. The build is up to you, you are skinny enough and small enough to fit any size really. The question is what discipline you ride and what breed you prefer.

A 14 hand horse seems appropriate for you. I am 5′ 2 and I can ride 13 hand horses and up. When sitting on the horse, when your legs are in riding position they should come a few inches above the horses belly. Your feet should not hang under the horse or be half way up the barrel of the horse.
    Good luck!

You could ride ponies shorter than you, esp. since they’re all so strong. As for horses, you could get pretty big, but don’t go too big or they’ll barely feel you kicking! ;D

omg, thats the same with me! same height and about same weight XD you’re looking for size of horse, so I would say around 14-15.2 hands would be good, i dunno bout build, depends on what you ride. western, maybe a stockier build, but english, doesnt matter, just not too stocky :)

i go really well with a average build 14.1 hand pony :)

Over all the years I’ve been riding, all my 8 riding instuctors have told me that the withers should be at your nose or (if you are still growing) at the top of your head. (your hight.) Hope this helps! (It did for me!)

Any size I suppose lol, there ain’t really a right or wrong answer to that question (esp cause you’re ’smaller’ so you can get away with riding ’smaller’).
I’m 5′6, 120 pounds and I ride a 13hh pony. It’s just what you prefer I suppose. I love ’small’ (less distance to fall I say). I’ve only got 2 other friends who like ’small’ most of my riding friends prefer taller horses. I also find that ponies have cute and funny personalities/characteristics.

I think a 15.2-16.2 would be a good height. I am about two inches taller than you and my horse is 16.3… everyone says we’re a good match so a little shorter would probably be good for you. Hope this Helps!!!
