Baby asked:

I just got in a new pony today. The people let the pny go because they couldn’t care for it anymore.

After getting the pony out of the trailer and into the field the pony started falling over and rolling from side to side.

There is no fever, heart rate is fine, and the horse is breathing fine. I have been redoing the vitals about every hour on the hour. Just incase and recording the info.

I have called the vet over and over an no answer. It is saturday and I even called the emergency number and no answer or call back.

We have been walking the pony for 20 min at a time then allowing it to lay back down for 10 minutes.

Is there anything else I can do?

I live in a very small town and only have 1 vet. The farm store is even closed.

Do not let the pony lay back down, it can twist the intestine which is fatal.
Best thing to do is walk, walk and more walking of the horse. Get a hold of the vet, their must be an emergency vet around that will take calls. But, you can’t leave the pony so have someone else do it.

Try to prevent the horse from eating anything at this present time. It can make things worse.

    Good Luck

Call the vet at the next biggest town. And as the person before me said, do not let the pony lay down. Walk, walk, and walk some more. You may live in a small town but there is an entire world around you. Call outside of your area.
